Sometimes it is a good idea to do a smooth entry and/or exit to achieve the best surface finish. This is especially useful on contour fine cuts. The Smooth Entry/Exit function in SimCam adds arcs to your contours to create smoothest possible entry/exit.
Consider this fine cut that starts and ends at the red dot.
In this case, the tool will position in the air above the startpoint and go straight down in Z to contour depth.
Let's add a smooth entry to change that.
In the SimCam menu, click [More] – [Smooth Entry/Exit] – [Entry].
Click anywhere on the contour.
Move the mouse cursor to a new start position and make a final click.
Now we will add a smooth exit as well.
Click [More] – [Smooth Entry/Exit] – [Exit]
Click anywhere on the contour.
Move the mouse cursor to a new end position and make a final click.
