1.1. How to control the 3D view
Roll the mouse wheel to zoom in and out.
Right-click the 3D screen and drag to pan picture.
Left-click and drag to rotate the view.
You can also pan and zoom using the keyboard. Page Up and Page Down keys let you zoom in and out, and the arrow keys let you pan the 3D view.
