12.2.3. Draw Circles and Arcs

To draw a circle or an arc, first click [Circle/ Arc] in the SimCam menu. Them select if you want to create a [Guide Circle] or a [Drawing Circle/ Arc] and then click [Center – Radius] if you want to create a circle/ arc with a known center coordinate and radius, or [Two or three points] if you do not know the circle/ arc center or the radius.

The first method [Center – Radius] is simple, just click or enter the center point followed by the radius. If you have selected to create a [Drawing Circle/ Arc], you will also be asked for the start and end angles.

In that case, you can hold down SHIFT and press Enter to create a full circle.

Also please note that while selecting the end angle, you can turn the arc around (clockwise/ counterclockwise) by hitting the Space bar on the keyboard.

These methods can be used to set the center point:

Click an Object (only circles, the new circle will get the same center as the one you click on.)

The second method is more advanced and has more options. These are:

Three known points along the circle border. (No circle center nor the radius has to be known.)

Click [Circle/ Arc] (followed by circle/ arc type) – [Two or three points] from the SimCam menu.

Click, enter, or snap click three points that are known to be on the circle border.
