When drawing in SimCam, snap points play an important role in assisting you. A snap point is automatically added at all intersections, centers, startpoints, tangential points, extreme points, etc.

 

Some examples:

 

At an intersection.

 

At a circle extreme point.

 

At a tangential point.

 

At a circle center.

 

There are also temporary snap points that get created after you have clicked a line startpoint or a circle center. These snap points are relative to the first point you clicked. For example, if you click a startpoint of a line, there will be tangential temporary snap points on all circles and 90 (and 45, -45) degrees angle snap points on all lines. You can see these temporary snap points as SimCam’s way of guessing your next move. Chances are that you want to end a line by making it tangential to an arc for example, and if not, the temporary snap points will not disturb you anyway.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

At the bottom of the SimCam window, you will find checkboxes allowing you to turn on and off particular snap points.

 

 

These are End (Endpoints), Cen (Center points), Mid (Midpoints), Int (Intersections), Tan (Tangential points), Ext (Extreme points), Dis (Disable all snaps), Ang (Snap to angles 0, 45, 90, etc.).

 

Note! Sometimes you do not want the mouse to snap to a snap point but you still want it to be turned on. You can hold down the Control button on the keyboard to temporarily ignore all snap points.
